Way to learn Tenses

If you started learning English like most of the people in India, chances are that you were taught of 12 Tenses ( Plus 4 Conditionals). However, we recommend getting into the habit of using only five tenses to begin with.

Yes, you can be absolute fluent for most of the situations by using just 5 tenses. Once you have mastered these 5 Tenses, you can go on mastering the rest of the tenses.

The Bare Essential Tenses

These five tenses are

1. Simple Present ( Usual Repetitive actions)
2. Present Continuous ( For things happening now)
3. Present Perfect ( For a sense of Already)
4. Simple Past
5. Simple Future ( Which you will learn to indicate using Simple Present and Present Continuous also)

In Conditionals, we start only with 2 Major Conditionals, but more on that later.

What are Tenses

Rather than looking at tenses as complex rules, look at them as the ways of talking. Tenses have nothing to do with the way the actual event took place, but rather the way you want to portray the event.

The Best Way to master Tenses

The best way to master Tenses is not to cram the rules, but rather train the tongue. For example you train your tongue to use "I" and "Have" together and terminate the verb after "Have" with a /n , /t  or /d sound.  In the next tutorial, you will learn about each tense one by one using natural tongue based rules.

This is how we learn about the tenses naturally. Don't look at any logical, complex rules ; they only clutter your mind.  The only way to speak clearly is to train the tongue.
